FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend

Barcelona have announced they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years since relocating to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to host the next European match versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
