Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
