Netflix Selects Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, although the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role reimagined as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and animated series.

Escola will work alongside a number of new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to life, including chief the main antagonist, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.

Even though this character is a major member of Baroque Works, the individual will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the next season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could indicate further changes to the narrative framework.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its season two on March 10th, 2026.
