Six Individuals Detained After €12 Million Robbery on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

A team of six suspects carrying high-powered firearms detonated charges to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five workers during described as the newest significant daytime heist to affect the country.

The bold operation took place on Thursday late morning, with police forces swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and recovering the stolen goods assessed at around 12 million euros (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five workers of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt from the blast, and three of them required hospital checks for assessment, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.

“Six individuals who employed explosive devices in an assault targeting a precious metals company in the Lyon area were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The raid happened as authorities on the same day apprehended five additional individuals, featuring a main perpetrator, in relation to this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.

Numerous detectives have been hunting four thieves who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting tools to breach a first-floor gallery at the renowned museum on October 19th, making off with ornaments assessed at around 88 million euros.
