Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her parents and they were âheartbrokenâ.
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their honor.
The commander-in-chief said heâs talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.
âI said: âWhen youâre prepared, because thatâs a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. Weâre going to honor her,â Trump addressed reporters. âAnd in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.â
Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of the presidentâs government program to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.
âSarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,â the principal, the principal of her alma mater, told the media. âShe was kind, considerate and always willing to assist people.â
Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The event caused the administration to halt asylum applications and cease providing visas to possessors of travel documents.
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.
He remains under medical supervision and is âfighting for his lifeâ, the stateâs leader Morrisey said on television.
Attorney general Bondi told the program that she planned to visit Wolfeâs family.
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the military.
âShe had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,â the governor addressed the audience at the service. âThough her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy thatâs going to be remembered always.â
